The Register To node outputs the reg drawing, and the reg-to lines it uses. It does not output any reg-to drawings, overlays or backgrounds involved in the regging. You therefore have to add these to the scene yourself. This is also how you can interleave artwork you're not using in the regging with the other artwork you are using. For example below, the monkey is in front of the elephant, except its leg is hooked behind the elephant's trunk:
We therefore connect the monkey to the left (reg drawing) input of a Register To node, and the elephant to its middle (reg-to drawing) input:
We then use the Order column to ensure the drawings are composited in the correct order; and we set the Elephant column to a hold, so its lines are copied into the monkey:
So far, this scene's only output is the monkey (the Register To node's reg drawing). To output the elephant and the ringmaster, we connect them to the Camera:
